Harry Potter Polls!

Hey guys! I just set up three polls about Harry Potter! One says what is your favorite movie? One says what is your favorite book? One says what movie do you think follows the closest to the book? The last says who is your favorite Harry Potter Character? Answer all! They will be posted at the bottom of the blog! The Polls end next Friday (July 22nd) so hurry and vote!

Discover Harry Potter Again (Plus: A Look into J.K. Rowlings Next Adventure with the Boy from the cupboard)

I don't think there's a person in this world right now, who hasn't heard about the final adventure of the boy from the cupboard, Harry Potter. The film series final installment Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 hits theaters Friday with midnight showings around the world on the night of July 14th. (Which I will be going to, pictures will be posted up later :) There's no doubt that tears will flow when the words "The End" flash across the screen, and there's no doubt that fans will be satisfied (As referenced by Part 2's 93% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes) and to add up more hype for the ginormous finale Warner Bros has added a video to their YouTube account titled "Harry Potter- A Look Back" Click here! In other HP news, almost every Harry Potter fan has heard of Pottermore by now, the online Harry Potter Encyclopedia that also offers (for the first time) E-Books of the Harry Potter series! Delicious S'More Cookie Bar Recipie

Prep time: 15 minutes Bake time: 35 minutes Makes: 24 Cost per bar: $0.45 Ingredients:
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 16 tbsp. (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups marshmallow topping
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9-by-13 inch baking pan with foil, leaving a 2-inch overhang on 2 sides. Mist foil with cooking spray
  • 2 In a bowl, combine flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder, and salt; mix well. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat butter and sugar until light, about 2 minutes. Beat in eggs until well mixed. Reduce mixer speed to low and slowly beat flour mixture into butter mixture. Divide dough in half. Press half of dough into pan until dough is uniform and flat. Spread with marshmallow topping and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Scatter remaining dough over in clumps. Don't worry about covering the top, marshmallow and chocolate chips should peek through.
  • 3 Bake 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Place pan on a wire cooling rack to cool completelyy. Remove from pan, peel off foil and cut into bars.

Long Live Harry Potter

At one point in the final movie, Harry's best friend, Ron Weasley says,

"We can end this."

The question is: Does anyone want to end this worldwide phenomenon? I, Kat, have provided some interesting things to know about the Potter books and movies, as a farewell to the group of wizards we all know and love.

  1. The eight HP movies took a total of 14 years.
  2. HP's first seven movies made a total of about $6.37 billion, but with merchandising, you get an estimated 15 billion dollars.
  3. The most profitable movie was The Sorcerer's Stone with $974 million worldwide. The least? The Prisoner of Azkaben $795 million worldwide.
  4. When the first movie was made, the once unknown child actors Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) were 11 and 12.

  5. By the time the final book hit bookstores in July 2007, worldwide demand to learn the story's ending was so great is sold 11 million copies in a single day.
